Community Kids’ Closet is a local non-profit organization formed in December of 1998 by three Northwest Arkansas women. These women felt led to be in service to God, local churches and area school children by utilizing their time and skills to find a way for the giving people of NWA to help clothe these children in need. They believed that new clothing provided directly to the children at school would not only give the children a chance to wear weather-appropriate clothing, but would also boost social and academic esteem. They also believed that people in area churches would appreciate and respond to a program that directly serves children of Northwest Arkansas. So far these beliefs have been confirmed by the overwhelming response of church congregations all over the area and by area teachers telling of the wonderful impact the gifts of new clothes have made in the lives of their students. Community Kids’ Closet utilizes a body of volunteers to identify and collect specific clothing information for area school children in need. This clothing information is then compiled and placed on to CKC "needs tags" that are displayed on bulletin boards at our cooperating churches. Members of each church can then select from the choices on the board, purchase the listed clothing items, and return the purchase back to the CKC Drop Box at the church. The volunteers then pick up the donated items, process them, and deliver the clothes directly back to the schools. 100% of cash and clothing donations made to Community Kids’ Closet are tax-deductible. Everyone with CKC works on a volunteer basis and any proceeds received go toward the purchase of clothing to be delivered to the schools. Community Kids’ Closet has held 12 successful campaigns. They have grown from serving 25 children to over 600. All credit for the success of this organization is given to God and the compassionate and giving people within our cooperating churches. Community Kids’ Closet thanks you for caring for our community kids!
